Cosmic Scope for Sep 2023

I started the month of September with an overseas travel. Getting onto a flight is something that I haven’t done since end of 2019. I totally forgot how to pack! But I’m now a big fan of packing cubes and I’ve successfully converted my husband to one too :) I’m writing this journal in the hot and humid Kyoto, sipping my favourite matcha tea.

The theme of September is: SIMPLICITY, RELATIONSHIP, NEW PLANS which I can already resonate with personally during this trip. Learning how to pack simply yet functional, catching up with old friends in Japan, embarking on a new career journey.

1st half of September: The focus is on simplicity, stability and sorting out a new daily regime

The month starts off with Venus going direct on 4 Sep. Venus goes retrograde every 18 months. The next round would not be here until Mar 2025. Hence, when Venus changes direction, we can feel the effect quite distinctively. If you have been feeling quite sluggish, especially in terms of resources, aesthetics and relationships, things are about to make a shift. Venus is still in the sign of Leo. So you might want to go pamper yourself, appreciate the beauty of things.

Almost within the same day, Jupiter goes retrograde in the sign of Taurus, joining the party of the other 5 planets in the retrograde motion (Mercury, Saturn, Neptune, Uranus and Pluto). Venus is forming a square with Jupiter at the moment. There will be tension between wanting to go all the way out to pamper yourself, have fun with friends and staying retrospective, reflecting on your value of resources. For example, your friends might be inviting you to a party but you are thinking if you will be spending too much money if you decide to go. This feeling of frustration will continue on for the rest of the month as Venus moves forward, it will also square Uranus in Taurus. The solution is to ask yourself, are you willing to cut back on the spending and still have fun? Another example is if you are thinking of redecorating your living space. Would you buy a simple piece of furniture that cost a bit more but go for a minimalist look or get many pieces of cheaper ones to decorate the space? Mercury in Virgo trine Jupiter further accentuates this theme of planning and sorting resources out.

The 5 outer planets in retrograde now:

Jupiter (Taurus), Saturn (Pisces), Uranus (Taurus), Neptune (Pisces), Pluto (Capricorn).

This is a rare scenario and they are all in the Earth and Water signs which are all Yin energies. The current vibe is very much focusing on behind the scene reflection on resources, stability, simplicity, intuition, structure, releasing, slow down. Hence, if you have many planets in the Air or Fire signs, you will feel that you are forced to pull back in many situations in life. All of us will have no choice but to slow down re-assess what we really want for our life. Especially when Pluto (the slowest moving planet) is on its last leg in Capricorn moving towards Aquarius when everything will shift towards fast, radical changes, technology, new ways of how the world will function. We have for many decades and centuries been going after what the old structures and paradigms deemed as successful, rich, and powerful. This is the time to look back at what went well, what went wrong or no longer work for all of us.

2nd half of September: New way of doing daily routine, perfection vs flexibility, remnants of the old, culmination of efforts

As we come to the middle of September, on the 15th or 16th (depending on where you are), Mercury goes direct. Daily issues, communications that might have gone wrong or hiccups here and there since the last week of August will smooth out now. We would start to think more about making daily improvements. How can we make things better in our daily regime? At the same time, the new moon in Virgo at 22 degrees on the 15th signifies a brand new start in how we do things daily, which resonates so well with Mercury going direct in the same sign. This new moon is forming an earth grand trine with Pluto at 28 degrees Capricorn and Uranus at 22 degrees Taurus. Again, as Pluto and Uranus are both in retrograde motion, as much as the new moon wants to start planning and improving things, we can only enjoy the gift of this grand trine by making an effort to turn inward. For example, I want to improve my work-life balance by requesting to continue working from home (new moon in Virgo), but there is still company rules to abide, asking staff to return to office (Pluto in Capricorn), can I re-negotiate with my manager to have a more flexible week with 2 days in office and 3 days working from home so this change is flexible but offers stability (Uranus in Taurus)? At the same time, Neptune in Pisces is in opposition against the new moon in Virgo. This is asking us to be more flexible when it comes to working hours. On days that we work from home, we could be more flexible with the timing of logging off cos we have saved the time of commuting.

The Sun enters Libra on the 23rd, this is all about relationships and interaction with others. We will feel better and more energetic when we form good relationships with others. Try not to take things too personally even when issues arise.

Finally, on the 29th, we reach a culmination stage with a full moon in Aries at 6 degrees. Did we achieve something over things or situations we fought so hard for last month?

If you have the patience to read until this part of my journal, you might be asking what’s all these about? Every month, there is so much different energies and you just don’t know how to deal with it! My advice is: don’t think too much, go with the flow, leverage the energies of the planets each month and strive to live in the present moment. Take one step at a time. During times of challenges, always know that nothing is permanent. This too shall pass.

Sending love, peace and joy for a great month of September ahead.
