The Moon

“Everyone is a moon, and has a dark side which he never shows to anybody.”

~ Mark Twain ~

The Sun and the Moon are called ‘luminaries’. The Sun’s function is to develop our expression outwardly, whereas the Moon’s function is to develop our feelings internally.

The Moon rules the sign of Cancer. It has the feminine energy, the archetype of a mother. It exudes the energies of care, nurture, protective, security. It is all about feelings, deep emotional security, instinct, mood. In a Natal Chart, one can also relate the sign of the Moon with the energies of the mother.

The Moon carries the soul’s memories of our purpose of being. Understanding what the Moon needs helps you to hold compassion for yourself and others, ultimately feel emotionally secured.

How can you satisfy and balance your Moon?

Be mindful of the shadow side of your moon.

  • Capricorn - integrity, hardworking, disciplined, structured

(shadow: too cold, stoic, only care if it’s worth caring)

  • Aquarius - individuation, out of the box

    (shadow: too detached, stubborn)

  • Pisces - spiritual, surrender, compassion, free flow

(shadow: too dreamy, idealistic, giving energy away)

The Moon is a very private aspect of us. Try asking yourself when you wake up tomorrow morning, “how do I feel today?” and see if you can think of one activity to do tomorrow that can satisfy your Moon sign. Then observe how you feel before you go to bed. Do you feel satisfied? Or were you manifesting too much of your shadow aspect? Even if you did, don’t blame yourself. At least, you are now more conscious of your own mood. Hold compassion for yourself and try to balance it tomorrow.
